We can hardly believe it, but Bounders is 10 years old! That’s a whole decade of dogs, and well over a thousand puppy personalities captured.
A letter from Joe...
An Adventure
It’s been quite the adventure, filled with love, laughter, mud and more dog slobber on my camera and in my beard than I’d like to admit! Some of you have been with us from the very start, while others have joined along the way, but I regard you all as my Bounders family. You’ve made Bounders what it is today.
A Look Back
When Bounders first began, I could never have imagined where this journey would take us, or that I would gain such wonderful friendships. It’s been a privilege to photograph so many dogs from all walks of life, family companions, rescue dogs, even a few celebrity pups! We’ve toured the UK from Dundee to Jersey, produced imagery of several charity calendar projects, and proudly supported Notts & Yorkshire Boxer Rescue and other amazing charitable organisations where we could. We even have our own premises now, the Bounders Lounge. It’s a far cry from selling frames out of the boot of my car in a pub car park in the pitch black! We’ve also had the chance to share our passion through workshops, talks, and teaching, helping others capture the magic of dog photography.
An ApologyÂ
Throughout my life I’ve always been terrible at keeping in touch, even with those who are very close to me. For example, I see my best friend maybe a handful of times a year, even though he only lives 25 minutes away! The same goes for the many special people who’ve entrusted me to work with their beloved pooches over the years. Pooches I’ve fallen in love with, enjoyed watching grow and even some I’ve mourned the loss of.
Life seems to have a habit of getting in the way.
Something else I’m really terrible at is celebrating my own achievements. I’ve graduated from several schools, colleges and institutions, and never been to a single graduation ceremony. I become too fixated on the next thing to take a moment to appreciate where I am or how I got there.
A Promise
So this year I’ve made a promise, to tackle both of these failings at the same time!Â
I’m going to do my best to really appreciate 10 years of Bounders, and celebrate as much as I can with all those incredible people who have helped Bounders get here…people like you! Without you Bounders is nothing.Â
A Celebration
So we’re planning some big events, and we want you to be part of them! Some get togethers, some walks, perhaps a tour etc so we can meet up with as many of our Bounders family as possible to say thank you in person. We’re hoping you’ll help us raise a little money for dog charities in the process, as a way of giving back to the beautiful creatures that unite us all and fill our souls with love.Â
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being part of this adventure.Â
Here’s to 10 years of Bounders, and to many more ahead!
